Crime Photography
The Photography was introduced in J&K Police in the year 1964 by establishing two Photography units at Jammu And Srinagar for providing scientific aid to the investigating agencies and the staff was provided by CID organization. Later on it was expanded in the year 1973 having its own strength of manpower for preparation of identity Cards to the inhabitants of Border residing People. Thereafter vide Govt. order No Home-282-Police of 1983 dated 28.08.1983 it was re-organized as “Police Photography Cadre” having separate lien and seniority. The small and separate cadre was extended upto district level with operational and administrative control of Crime Hqrs. Moreover Photography Section was also opened in SKPA Udhampur and PTTI Vijaypur to trained the Police personals. In view of Scientific Aid to detection of Crime.
Present functioning of Photo Section.
The photography Section are functioning at all District Hqrs.(Except Ramban) will the aim to assist the local Police/sister organization and other investigation agencies for detecting the Crime, Criminal, law and order problems, to cover the VVIP, VIP public addresses, Police functions and in examinations to the check the copying etc.
Moreover, there are 28 Police photography cells working in Border belt area of J&K UT for preparing the identity cards to the inhabitants of Border people notified by the Govt. as protected area. The photography staff is also working with the security personals of Police department on vital installation checking the electronic gadgets of Media persons. The photography staff is preparing the Police Identity Cards, Civil Secretariat Employees’ Identity Cards, Retired Police Person’s Identity Cards and Even Cards.
PSK9 Squad
The PSK9 squad of Crime Branch is one of the prime support units for assistance in Crime prevention and deduction. The services of these PSK9 Squads was introduced for detection of crime, criminals and narcotic drug traffickers. Besides, it covers the security of VIP/VVIPs, Vital installation, Civil Airports Jammu, Srinagar, Leh and Jawahar tunnel, Shri MataVaishno Devi ji Shrine at Katra, Railway Station, Jammu and Railway tracks and Civil Secretariat Jammu/Srinagar. There are 32 canines (K9) of different breeds which include 24 Sniffer , 05 Narcotics and 03 Tracker K9.
